PLA Navy Ship “Penis Rotten” ridiculed among Cantonese Speakers

PLA Navy’s guided-missile frigate Binzhou, recently visited Polish port of Gdynia, commemorating the 100 anniversary of the Polish Navy.

But the name of the frigate caused mockery among Cantonese speakers. As “Binzhou Chien 濱州艦“ in Mandarin, the same three characters are pronounced almost like “Penis rotten” in Cantonese slang.

As news reports suggested, she will be available for Polish public visits, some even ridiculed the PLA authorities allows a “rotten” ship to public views.

Even some other suggested the ship shall be docked at Kongmoon/Jiangmen, as the city sounds like “anus” in Cantonese.
